Owner has given the particulars required for the compilation of

accurate statistics.

Statistics of Cargo carried by Steamers.

In order to retain statistics of the Trade

carried on by Steamers it will be necessary to obtain correct

Import and Export Manifests of all vessls passing through the

Colony, and to obtain such Manifests an amendment of the

Merchant Shipping Consolidation Ordinance is necessary.

Sub-section 11 of Section 37 states:-

*The Master of every steamship not exceeding

"sixty tons shall, within eighteen hours after arrival in the

waters of the Colony, report such arrival at the Harbour

Master's Office or at the nearest "Harbour Master's Staţion"

and shall furnish the particulars hereinafter mentioned, xhkia

which shall be entered in a register kept for the purpose,

that is to say:-

(a). the name and capacity of the ship;

(b). the name, address, and description of the

owner or owners and of the master;

(c). the name, address and description of every

consignee or agent, if any, of the

ship and cargo in the Ružujxx Kolony;

(d). the description of the cargo on board and

the number of the crew; and

(e). the place from which the ship sailed on her

voyage to the Colony and the date of he

departure from such place and of her

arrival in the Colony;

Sub-section 2 of Section 22 dealing with

ships of over sixty tons reads as follows:-

"Every such master shall, on the arrival

of his ship within the waters of the Colony, allow and assist on board without delay the Harbour Master and the Health Officer

of the Port as soon as they come alongside, and shall furnish
